Norwegian Aura adds earlier inaugural sailings before Miami debut
Norwegian Cruise Line has opened two earlier inaugural voyages for Norwegian Aura, moving the new ship’s first guest sailing to May 2, 2027. The added Mediterranean cruises precede the ship’s previously announced May 21 voyage and its move to Miami for a Caribbean season.
Two new inaugural Mediterranean sailings
- May 2, 2027: a 10-day cruise from Trieste, Italy, to Athens (Piraeus), Greece, calling at Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia; Bar, Montenegro; and Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos in Greece.
- May 12, 2027: a nine-day cruise from Athens (Piraeus) to Trieste, visiting Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini and Corfu in Greece; Bar, Montenegro; and Split and Zadar in Croatia.
NCL says both voyages are open for sale and were added because the ship is anticipated to be delivered early. No fare or live cabin availability is confirmed in this article; travelers should request a current quote for a preferred date and cabin.
What follows before the Miami season
After the two new cruises, Norwegian Aura is scheduled for a seven-day Mediterranean voyage beginning May 21 from Trieste to Barcelona (Tarragona), followed by a 13-day transatlantic cruise from Barcelona (Tarragona) to Miami.
NCL’s published deployment then places the ship on seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami from June through October 2027. Those itineraries are expected to visit Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola and Great Stirrup Cay. Seven-day Western Caribbean cruises are planned for winter 2027–28, with calls at Roatán, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Harvest Caye. Exact dates, availability and port sequences should be checked for the individual sailing.
Norwegian Aura highlights
NCL describes Norwegian Aura as its largest and longest ship to date at approximately 170,000 gross tons and nearly 1,130 feet long. The ship is planned to include Ocean Heights, a multi-deck outdoor activity complex with racing waterslides, a drop slide, an 82-foot ropes course and family recreation areas. NCL also plans its largest pool deck and Vibe Beach Club, plus new dining and wellness venues including Tamara, The Panorama Room and an expanded thermal suite.
Why this matters for Florida cruise travelers
The two added cruises do not depart from Florida, but they move the ship’s overall inaugural season forward and confirm the sequence leading into its Miami deployment. Travelers focused on Florida can continue comparing the seven-night Caribbean program from Miami, while travelers interested in being among the first aboard now have two earlier Mediterranean options.
