Florida cruise ports: parking, transfers and arrival planning
A lower cruise fare is not always a lower vacation total. Before choosing a Florida departure, compare the cruise, the journey to the terminal, parking or transfers, and any hotel nights for everyone traveling.
Already know where you want to sail? Browse current Florida cruise offers; each offer identifies its supported departure ports. For a trip with children, use our family cruise checklist alongside the port information below.
Use this guide to narrow your search, then check the port and terminal shown on your cruise documents. Ships, terminals, and schedules can change.
Port Canaveral: Orlando and the Space Coast
Official parking snapshot: $20 per day plus tax, with both your arrival day and departure day charged. Payment is collected on arrival by major credit card; cash is not accepted and the port does not take parking reservations.
Budget example: a seven-night cruise spanning eight calendar days means eight parking days at this published rate: $160 before tax. This is a calculation from the port’s charging rule, not a parking quote or reservation.
The port’s directions place Orlando International Airport (MCO) west of the terminals via State Road 528. Do not treat the advertised driving time as your full airport transfer: baggage collection, waiting for transportation and traffic need additional time. Check official rates, terminal maps and arrival instructions.
Consider Port Canaveral when you want to combine a cruise with an Orlando-area visit or a stay on the Space Coast. Plan the airport-to-port transfer as a separate part of your trip; the port is not at the Orlando airport.
Before booking parking or a shuttle, confirm the ship’s terminal, pickup location, luggage allowance, and return arrangements. For a hotel package, check whether the advertised price covers every traveler and both transfer directions.

Miami: a South Florida starting point
Do not budget one parking rate for all of PortMiami. Its official guide lists $28 per day or fraction for several county-operated garages, while Garages AA and B are listed at $35 per day. Royal Caribbean’s Garage A has separate operator information. Confirm the garage assigned to your terminal before calculating a total.
When comparing an airport arrival in Miami with one in Fort Lauderdale, price the transfer for your whole party, with enough vehicle space for bags. Our recommendation is to compare airport-to-hotel and hotel-to-terminal journeys separately rather than assuming an airport hotel includes a cruise shuttle.
PortMiami is worth comparing when your preferred sailing leaves from Miami or you want time in the city before boarding. Make sure the flight, hotel, and transfer are planned around PortMiami specifically.
When comparing flights into South Florida, include the cost and travel time of the transfer to your actual port. A cheaper flight does not automatically make a cheaper cruise vacation. Use the official port’s parking information to check the correct garage, vehicle restrictions, and current charges.

Fort Lauderdale: Port Everglades
Official parking snapshot: the published standard daily maximum is $25. The clock starts when you take the parking ticket, rather than using Port Canaveral’s arrival-and-departure calendar-day rule. The port does not accept advance parking reservations or prepayment.
Heron Garage serves Terminals 2 and 4; Palm Garage serves Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29, with a shuttle for Terminal 29. Both garages list a seven-foot clearance. Check your vehicle height and assigned terminal rather than choosing a garage by cruise line alone. Oversized-vehicle arrangements and charges are separate.
Fort Lauderdale cruise departures use Port Everglades. Keep that port name handy when arranging transportation so your driver takes you to the cruise terminal listed on your documents.
Parking locations depend on the terminal. Check the official port information before traveling, especially if you have an oversized vehicle or accessibility requirements. Compare the total cost of driving and parking with a transfer for everyone in your party.

Tampa: a Gulf Coast departure
Port Tampa Bay places cruise Terminals 2, 3 and 6 in its Channelside area. Its official website links to a terminal guide, cruise schedule and parking reservations by sailing. Match your booking to the assigned terminal rather than navigating to a general port office.
No current Tampa parking rate is quoted in this guide. Check the official Port Tampa Bay website and its Cruise Parking section for the price and conditions for your dates. Ask whether your booking covers your vehicle size, the entire stay and any cancellation or late-return charges.
Consider Tampa if a Gulf Coast starting point makes your drive or pre-cruise stay simpler. Choose the sailing first, then match your arrival plans to the assigned terminal.
Port Tampa Bay publishes a terminal guide. Check that guide and your cruise documents before reserving parking or planning a pickup. If you are comparing two similar cruises from different Florida ports, add the travel costs before deciding which fare is the better value.

Jacksonville: a North Florida option
Cruise terminal: 9810 August Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32226. Use this address for navigation, not JAXPORT’s corporate headquarters.
Official parking snapshot: passenger vehicles are $17 per day, tax included. JAXPORT lists $68 for a four-day cruise and $85 for five days. Vehicles occupying two standard spaces are charged $34 per day. The terminal accepts major credit cards on arrival, not cash; JAXPORT says it no longer accepts prepaid parking reservations. Its lot is beside the terminal.
For travelers driving from North Florida or nearby states, Jacksonville is another departure point to compare. Start with available itineraries for your dates, then decide whether the convenience fits your trip.
Use JAXPORT’s passenger information for the current terminal address, parking arrangements, and directions. Allow time for arrival procedures rather than treating the ship’s departure time as your arrival deadline.

A useful comparison before you book
- Compare cruises for the same number of travelers, similar cabin types, and the dates you can actually travel.
- Add flights or driving costs, parking, transfers, a hotel if needed, and meals before or after the cruise.
- Check the line’s boarding and arrival instructions. Build a buffer for delays, especially when flying.
- Review cancellation terms before buying separate hotel, parking, or transportation packages.
Before reserving parking, a shuttle or a hotel package
Ask for the cost for your actual dates and everyone in your party. Check whether a shuttle price is per person or per vehicle, whether it includes both directions, and what happens if disembarkation is delayed. For a park-and-cruise hotel package, compare the package total with a room-only rate plus separate parking; do not count the same parking benefit twice.
Our recommendation for travelers flying to Florida is to plan an overnight stay before boarding when practical. A cruise departure time is not an airport arrival target. Use your cruise line’s check-in and all-aboard deadlines when arranging flights and ground transportation.
Planning a Disney cruise? Compare Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale before booking the rest of the trip. For other lines, start with the departure port shown on the current offer, then ask April to confirm the complete party total.
Parking figures for Port Canaveral, PortMiami, Port Everglades and JAXPORT were checked against their linked official resources on October 9, 2026. They are dated planning figures, not reserved rates. No Tampa parking price is quoted here. Recheck the official operator, charging period, taxes, vehicle restrictions and terminal assignment before travel.
